Cherry blossoms are over by early April. In May, Seoul has roses instead: a 5km tunnel of around 320,000 rose bushes along the Jungnangcheon stream.

Lotus Lantern Festival
A UNESCO-listed tradition and one of the most beautiful nights of the year in Seoul. Thousands of glowing lanterns parade down Jongno from about 7pm. Get there by 6pm for a good spot.
Night life and food
Seoul eats late and dances later. Hot noodles at midnight, a barbecue that runs into the small hours, a tiny bar you would never have found on your own, then karaoke until dawn.
